Introduction to Speech and Debate!

Date: August 3, 2026 Time : 6:30PM - 8:00 PM Location: Cinco Ranch Library (2nd floor) Our summer public speaking camps were an absolute blast, and I had the best time coaching such a talented group of kids. Since we wrapped up, so many parents have reached out asking how their kids can transition from basic public speaking into Speech & Debate. As a competitive debater and coach, I know the activity can seem complex from the outside. To help clear up how it all works, I am hosting a free workshop at the library for parents and students to help understand and have the information they need to decide how to proceed into speech and debate. **What we will cover:** - Understanding the Events: A straightforward guide to the various speech and debate categories/events to help you find the right fit. - The Academic Benefits: How it helps builds critical thinking, advanced research skills, and structured logic. - Logistics of what competing looks like. - Q&A: An open session to ask about local school teams, Local tournaments and National tournaments, tournament prep, and getting started.
